“When I was building my first Mk 9 Lotus, I heard another fellow Alan Stacey was building a Mk 6 just a few miles away. We became great friends & both joined Team Lotus. I left & went to Lola, he stayed on & was killed in Belgian GP at Spa, that was the worst thing that happened in my racing career, a lovely bloke so funny, he only had one leg you know”.
