Peter Ashdown

Recently, I was delighted to hear from Peter Ashdown, who had a successful racing career in the 1950’s and early 1960’s. Peter has provided a number of wonderful photos from a collection of photos, articles and cuttings either taken by him or given to him especially, and I am very honoured to be able to use them with his full permission.

However, the Motorsport Article is obviously copyrighted to them and the author of the interview, Dr. Mike Lawrence. The copy on here is from Peter’s copy given to him by Motorsport. Should any of the pictures here be re-used it will need either mine or Peter’s permission, but re-producing the article will need to be referred to Motorsport.

Peter has sent me a number of photos, but a lot of them are uncredited. If you believe that you own the copyright to the original photos, regardless of if they have been provided to Peter to use personally, please do let me know and I will give you full credit for the images used, or take them off if requested.

I’ve also received photos from Stephen Walker, Peter’s former brother-in-law and I thank him too for the time and material he has sent to me.

It has been a pleasure to also scan these photos to help Peter’s archives, and I hope that people will enjoy them greatly.

I thank Peter, and his wife June, for their time and patience and to allow me to share a lot of these photos online for the first time.

Any information to help identify or elaborate on these pictures will be much appreciated.
